For this week's Art Analysis Blog Post, I chose this painting called "The Swing" by Jean-Honore Fragonard. The painting of "The Swing" was an oil painting created in somewhere about 1767 in an 81 cm x 64.2 cm canvas. It was known to be "one of the best-known images in 18th-century art" (Zaczek) ( The Swing ) and its current location is at The Wallace Collection, London, United Kingdom. I remembered this painting/picture from TikTok when a woman was talking about the secret message behind the painting. Apparently, the painting represents Desires and Infidelity because of the history behind it. "Charles Colle asked a painter named Gabriel Francois Doyen to make a painting of him and his mistress, but Charles refused and passed the request to Fragonard which he agreed" ( “The Swing (Fragonard)” ) .
